The Vineyard

Wijnkasteel Vandeurzen, located on the 11-hectare south-facing slopes of Linden, is a place where grapes ripen in perfect harmony with their environment. The unique microclimate and rich soils, including a layer of iron sandstone, form the foundation for wines of refined elegance, vibrant freshness, and distinctive character.

More than 31,000 vines from diverse origins produce a wide range of wines: white, rosé, red, sparkling, and even a proprietary grape gin.

The Founders

In 2013, the Vandeurzen family acquired the historic castle estate, including the iconic White Castle, the 18th-century farmhouse, and 11 hectares of agricultural land adjacent to the castle avenue. The estate subsequently underwent an extensive four-year restoration, breathing new life into both the castle and its surrounding grounds.

On the southern slopes of Linden, more than 31,000 vines were planted, turning a long-cherished dream of the Vandeurzen family into reality: producing their own wines.

“Our dream is that everyone who visits our estate feels what we feel: a passion for wine, a love of craftsmanship, and the joy of sharing moments together. Family and passion are at the heart of everything we do.”

Innovation for Tomorrow

At Wijnkasteel Vandeurzen, innovation and technology are central to our philosophy. This is reflected both in our production methods and in our choice of grape varieties. The estate experiments with different vinification techniques and boldly plants southern grape varieties such as Tempranillo and Albariño from Spain, as well as Italy’s Barbera. At the same time, we cultivate varieties from cooler regions around Austria, including Grüner Veltliner and Roter Veltliner.

We consciously anticipate climate change, which increasingly allows more southern grape varieties to thrive on our slopes.

Vinification and ageing take place using four different methods: pure fruit expression, ageing in new French or American oak barrels. Since 2022, we have also invested in amphorae, a traditional ageing method used by the ancient Greeks and Romans. This centuries-old technique gives the wines a pronounced character, marked minerality, and elegant floral notes.

The result is a fresh and innovative vision of terroir, tradition, and technology, driven by a constant pursuit of innovation.

About the Wine

Our sparkling wine is produced according to the traditional method. The Chardonnay grapes undergo a first fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. The Blanc de Blancs matures on its lees for a minimum of nine months.

Each bottle of sparkling wine from Wijnkasteel Vandeurzen reflects our craftsmanship, our passion, and the evolution of a winery that dares to innovate.
