The Vineyard

Wijngoed Monteberg, located on the sun-drenched southern slope of the Monteberg in Dranouter, was founded in 1996 by Jean-Pierre Six. With 10 hectares of planted vines and over 48,000 grapevines, the estate produces a wide range of wines: white, rosé, red, sparkling, and even a sweet aperitif/digestif called Pommelle.

Its unique location offers stunning views over the surrounding fields reaching all the way to the French border, making the vineyard a popular destination for wine lovers and tourists alike.

The Founders

After its founding by Jean-Pierre Six, the estate is now run by his children, Edward and Katrien Six. With passion and craftsmanship, they continue the family business—Edward focusing on viticulture and Katrien on the commercial and organizational aspects.

Together, they ensure the production of high-quality wines and warmly welcome visitors to the estate’s wine shop and terrace.

Méthode Traditionnelle

Wijngoed Monteberg follows sustainable and ecological viticultural practices. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

For their sparkling wines, the méthode traditionnelle is used, with the wine aging on the lees in bottle for at least 23 months. This method results in wines with a refined taste and an elegant mousse.

About the Wine

The sparkling wine range includes white, rosé, and even red varieties. The Monteberg Extra Brut, made from Auxerrois matures for a minimum of 23 months in bottle and offers a fresh, dry character.

A particularly unique creation is the red sparkling wine made from the Rondo grape—a first on the Belgian wine market. These distinctive wines reflect the innovative spirit and expertise of the estate.
