The Vineyard

Domaine Mont des Anges, founded in 2016 near Mons, is a Belgian winery dedicated to producing high-quality sparkling wines. The vineyards are located on chalky and flint-rich soils in Spiennes, Nouvelles, and Havay, which contribute to the wines’ distinctive mineral expression.

Covering 12 hectares and with a strong focus on sustainability—avoiding the use of herbicides or insecticides—the estate aims to craft wines that truly reflect the character of the terroir. Their Blanc de Blancs 2021 was awarded a gold medal at the 2024 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, underscoring the quality of their production.

The Founders

The estate is led by Laurianne Lejour, an experienced winemaker from the Champagne region, and Vincent De Busscher, a Belgian entrepreneur with a passion for wine. Their collaboration merges traditional expertise with innovative approaches, with the goal of producing sparkling wines that capture the essence of Belgian terroir.

They also introduce new grape varieties such as Voltis, which are disease-resistant, and apply sustainable viticultural practices certified by the University of Liège-Gembloux.

Méthode Traditionnelle

The winery employs the traditional method for sparkling wine production, with hand-harvesting of ripe grapes and gentle pressing. The wines undergo fermentation and aging in oak barrels or stainless steel tanks, depending on the cuvée, followed by a minimum of 15 months of bottle aging on lees.

This meticulous approach results in wines with a refined mousse and a pronounced expression of terroir.

About the Wine

Mont des Anges offers a range of sparkling wines, including the Blanc de Blancs 2021 (100% Chardonnay), known for its freshness and minerality, and the Blanc de Meuniers 2021 (100% Meunier), which stands out for its fruity aromas and delicate bubbles.

They also produce the Cuvée d’Assemblage Brut 2021, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, offering a harmonious balance of freshness and complexity. These wines have earned recognition at international competitions and are valued for their quality and authentic expression of Belgian terroir.
