The Vineyard

Château de Bioul, located in the Viroin Valley in the province of Namur, is a wine château with a rich history and a family proud of its heritage.

Since 2015, the estate has focused on sustainable and ecological viticulture, with a strong emphasis on terroir expression and biodiversity. In 2020, the estate achieved its organic certification, a significant milestone in its environmentally conscious approach.

The Founders

The idea of taking over a vineyard was a dream that Andy and Vanessa had reserved for their old age. However, everything changed when they discovered Belgian wine!

They moved from Brussels to the family château, and a few months later, they planted their first vines in the heart of 'Vignoulle,' an area with a long history of viticulture.

Today, the 13 hectares of vineyards bring the hills of yesteryear back to life. It is here, at the heart of this unique heritage, that all wines are made and age through the seasons: Johanniter, Muscaris, Pinotin...

Biodynamic

The vineyards of Château de Bioul are planted with interspecific (hybrid) grape varieties that are naturally resistant to fungal diseases. As a result, the use of pesticides is minimized, leaving the soil, water, and local fauna untouched. This approach not only results in healthy grapes but also contributes to the long-term quality of the landscape.

In addition to organic principles, the estate also embraces biodynamic practices. By working in harmony with natural and cosmic cycles, Château de Bioul strives for a living, vital soil and a balanced relationship between plant, environment, and human. This results in wines with depth and an authentic reflection of their origin.

About the Wines

The vinification process is carried out with meticulous precision, largely in stainless steel and egg-shaped concrete vats. This choice allows for the preservation of the natural expression of the fruit while developing complexity and finesse in the wine.

Each cuvée of Château de Bioul is linked to a specific vineyard, allowing the unique characteristics of each piece of terroir to come through clearly.
