The Vineyard

Bruut Winery, formerly Wijndomein Dappersveld-Woestijn, currently cultivates 6 hectares of carefully selected Vitis vinifera grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Gamay. The vineyards, located across Pepingen, Gooik, and Roosdaal in the heart of Pajottenland, are entirely farmed under their own management. Each site – from the sandy clay slopes of Dappersveld and Krekelhof to the sheltered microclimate of Berchembos – contributes its unique terroir to the character of the wine.

Here, passion, tradition, and innovation come together to create expressive, refined wines that reflect the best of Pajottenland.

The Founders

Bruut Winery originated from a collaboration between two passionate families with a shared vision of viticulture in Pajottenland. What started in 2013 with the first plantings in Elingen has grown into a joint project, with Sam Dehandschutter, who comes from a hospitality background, taking on the role of winemaker.

After the departure of co-founder Eric Geyssens in 2022, the winery relocated to Gooik and in 2024, the project was given a new name: Bruut Winery. The new identity reflects the focus on high-quality sparkling wines – pure, expressive, and straight from the heart of Pajottenland.

As Natural as Possible

At Bruut Winery, nature is at the center. Following the principle of ‘lutte raisonnée’, they let nature do most of the work, with minimal but thoughtful interventions when necessary.

Both in the vineyard and the cellar, they deliberately choose a natural approach that allows the terroir to come through to its fullest. The result? Authentic, characterful wines with a unique identity, where craftsmanship and respect for the environment perfectly come together.

About the Wine

The sparkling wines of Bruut Winery are made with care and precision according to the traditional method, with bottle aging ranging from 15 to sometimes more than 24 months. The focus is on finesse, balance, and a pure expression of fruit, terroir, and craftsmanship.

Through thoughtful blending and natural vinification, the wines created are both festive and refined – from fresh, fruity cuvées to complex prestige bubbles with subtle wood influences. Each bottle reflects Bruut’s philosophy: bold, elegant, and always in harmony with nature.
