The Vineyard

Wijndomein Vandersteene, located in Zwijnaarde near Ghent, is a family-run estate that has been producing sparkling wines since 2015 on 3.2 hectares of its own vineyards. The Vandersteene family, active for six generations in floriculture, combines their passion for plants with winemaking.

They focus exclusively on sparkling wines made using the traditional method, with grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier, Pinot Blanc, and Prior. The estate has won several awards, including gold at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and welcomes visitors for guided tours and tastings.

The Founders

Geert Vandersteene and his son Diederik are the driving forces behind the estate. Geert, founder of the Gemaflor flower business, completed a viticulture course in 2012.

Diederik followed in his father’s footsteps and took over the business with his wife Maaike in 2015. Their shared passion for wine and plants led to the creation of the winery. With the support of French oenologists from the Champagne region, they pursue quality and craftsmanship in every bottle.

Vegan

Wijndomein Vandersteene produces its sparkling wines using the traditional method. All grapes are hand-harvested to ensure optimal quality. The entire process, from planting to bottling, takes place on the estate.

They do not use insecticides or curative herbicides, opting instead for mechanical weed control. No animal-derived products are used in the cellar, making their wines fully vegan.

About the Wine

The range includes six sparkling wines: Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, Meunier Rosé, Tradition Brut, Rubis Demi-Sec, and Rosé. These wines are made from grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier, Pinot Blanc, and Prior.
The Blanc de Blancs, made from 100% Chardonnay, offers aromas of red apple, lemon, and brioche. The Blanc de Noirs, a blend of Pinot Noir and Meunier, displays a refined fruit structure.

The Meunier Rosé 2021 was awarded a gold medal at the Concours Mondial 2023.
