Wine Lady of the Year - Kathy Declercq

Kathy Declercq, co-owner of the Cruysem wine estate, has been voted “Wine Lady of the Year”.

In 2017, she planted her first vines in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes, and today, together with her partner Bart, she is the driving force behind the Cruysem wine estate, named after the merged municipality of Kruisem. 
"Kathy runs the wine estate, which now covers more than 10 hectares and is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc. She produces exclusively sparkling wines according to the 'méthode traditionnelle'. These are distinguished by their minerality, thanks to the specific sandy loam soil with an underlying layer of iron sandstone," says organiser Baudouin Meyhui.
Kathy Declercq is one of the founding members of the BelBul quality label. All Cruysem wines carry this Belgian quality label. She has won several international awards for her sparkling wines and has also received numerous accolades.
